Hi Everyone:
Have you ever . . . ? That's the phrase we were asked to finish today at a women's networking luncheon.
So, have you ever been late for an appointment? If you usually are, then think about what you're doing prior to leaving for the appointment. Where are you and what are you doing? Is it really important that you do it now, or can it really wait?
Many people have a syndrome known as, "Just one more minute" itis. Sure, you can look up one more thing on your computer. Sure, you can finish painting the picture. Sure, you can make it through traffic and arrive 20 miles away in just a minute. How many "sures" are guiding your life?
In order to get yourself out the door, away from the painting, off the computer and safely navigating through traffic, you probably can make use of some tricks:
Put everything you need to take with you at the front door, or in your car as soon as you are awake and dressed for the day.
Set a timer 30 minutes before you have to leave. When the timer goes off, stop what you are doing, save what you're writing on the computer, go to the bathroom (!), and check yourself over to be sure you look alright. THEN LEAVE!
If the 30 minute timer doesn't quite move you into action, set another timer 15 minutes before you have to leave. When that one rings, you better leave!
This can apply to appointments out of your house or business and will get you to where you're going safely and possibly with a few moments to stop and breathe before you have to meet someone, or go into a meeting.
Hate to arrive early and wait for others? Take a book with you; take a report with that you haven't had time to read; take your bills with and get them paid; and do whatever else you hate to do while waiting!
Happy "no more late days" to you!
