Hi Everyone:
The previous 9 steps have probably kept you pretty busy. Afterall, admitting your problems with clutter, getting someone to help you, and then apologizing to those around you who bore the brunt of your tirades because you couldn't find anything is a daunting task.
So now we go on to our next step. This one is more thought-provoking than an action step.
STEP 10
Since getting organized is not something you can do overnight, you will have to become accustomed to an every day look at your surroundings. Yes, you have hired an organizer to help you, or even that trusted friend. However, much like combing your hair one day and expecting that to be permanent forever, organizing once doesn't work either. It will have to become a life-long goal for you.
We Organizers get disorganized also. When we are busy helping others to achieve their goals, our own surroundings get neglected. However, since we know the value of having certain homes for everything, our re-organizing doesn't take any time at all. And that is the way it will be for you once you get everything where you want it. Please remember that your family or roommate(s)are going to have to share in the organizing structure. If they are not included then you will have chaos going on - you putting things where you want them - they putting things where there's an open spot. So get everyone together and make decisions on where everything should be so that all of you are comfortable with the choices.
Keep putting everything back in place immediately after using it. You will be surprised at how easy life can be when you are not bumping into, jumping over, or walking around all the clutter that once was in your way!
